When diagnosing a problem on a Windows computer, one of the most valuable bits of information you can provide is a copy of the exact error message on the screen.
Using the PrtScn button
The PrintScreen button (PrtScrn, PrtScn, etc.) is located in the upper right area of the keyboard. It is usually located just to the right of the F12 key.
By pressing this button, the screen is copied to the clipboard. (The clipboard is a temporary place in the computer memory to store screens or text.) When you press this button, nothing appears to happen. The screen should not change.
Now you can open a new email and paste the screen into the body by either pressing Ctrl V (press and hold Ctrl then tapping ‘V’) or by clicking on the Edit option and clicking on Paste.
Using Snip & Sketch tool
On Windows 10 and Windows 11 you can press this key combination: Press and Hold the Windows key plus the Shift Key then tap the ‘S’ key. You can then use the mouse to draw a rectangle over the area you want to copy by pressing and holding the left mouse button. After you release the left button, the image will be copied to the clipboard.
